Pick of the Day | Tuesday 12 August

Continuum

There’s lots of good stuff tonight, so I’ll be brief!

8pm, Stargate: Continuum, Sky One
NEW Stargate SG-1 may have been cancelled, but at least there’s consolation in this special episode, the second of two spin-offs. The team face old nemesis Ba’al, who somehow manages to alter the course of time, turning Teal’c and Vala into baddies. The time travel aspect allows some old faces to crop up again, including Jack O’Neill - looks like the SG-1 franchise hasn’t disappeared altogether just yet.

9pm, CSI: Miami, Five
Ryan takes on bodyguard duties for a young swimmer whose cult online status has attracted a stalker with murderous tendencies. Unfortunately it turns out it’s Horatio who could do with his own personal guard… That’s what happens when you go on Facebook, Horatio

9pm, Ghost Whisperer, Living
The show takes a pop at fake psychics when one shows up claiming he knows something about a kidnapped girl and Melinda is forced to work alongside him to find out the truth about the missing child. You might recognise one of the family members - it’s Elisabeth Moss, who plays burgeoning writer Peggy in Mad Men.

10pm, Smallville, E4
Pete’s back and he’s discovered he has powers of his own that are slightly reminiscent of animated classic, Inspector Gadget. Just one question - since when did Kryptonite work on clothes as well as human beings?

10pm, Private Practice, Living
Violet’s determination to get over Alan wavers when he shows up unexpectedly at the clinic (the keen-eyed amongst you will spot that it’s not the original actor from the pilot), leaving Cooper nursing his best hang-dog expression. Meanwhile Addison is having trouble concealing her fantasies about Pete, but Naomi’s teenage daughter finds a way to wipe the grin off her face.
