BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
Atlantis may have reached the end of the line last week, but Sky are very kindly lessening the blow with a series of ‘best of’ episodes, beginning tonight with this goodie from series two, in which McKay gets trapped in a sinking Puddle Jumper, and has to call upon the help of a hallucination-induced Sam Carter. The episode reveals the sillier side of McKay, and Amanda Tapping gets to wear a strictly non-regulation pink jacket in his dream world. Thankfully, real help is also on the way courtesy of Sheppard and Zelenka.

9pm, Battlestar Galactica, Sky1
NEW SERIES The final half of the final series has finally come around. It’s been a long time coming, but now that it’s here there’s something rather bittersweet about knowing we’re building towards the end. Five years is a long-time commitment! Well, in the world of TV shows anyway… Starbuck is mulling over the ominous predictions of the Cylon Hybrid, while Adama, Roslin and the Cylons must come to terms with the discovery that Earth is a desolate wasteland.

9pm, CSI, Five
Nick and Catherine investigate the apparent suicide of a young bride-to-be, Grissom hauls himself into work after a woman is found battered to death, and Sara makes herself useful, working on a case involving a rape victim’s husband who is charged with murder after pulling the plug on his comatose wife’s life support machine. It’s a poignant episode, with lots of not-so-subtle relationship-esque symbolism. We’re starting to count the weeks till the arrival of Laurence Fishburne.

CSI, Grissom cradles a dying Warrick

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
SERIES FINALE It’s the 100th episode of the show, and indeed the last one ever. The producers may have enlisted some Sopranos stars last week but, thankfully, they weren’t inspired by that show’s finale, and there is some closure by the end of the hour. Without giving too much away, The Wraith have managed to get hold of a ZPM power generator and are building a super-ship, intent on reaching Earth so fast no-one will be able to stop them. Earth’s only hope? Atlantis, with Carson Beckett at the helm. Sky have scheduled the very first episodes of the show immediately afterwards in a 2-hour special, and we’ve found a lovely little vid with the cast saying goodbye.

9pm, CSI, Five
NEW SERIES Tonight’s episode begins moments after the cliffhanger from the last series, and the CSIs race to the scene of Warrick’s shooting. The trouble is, it’s fairly difficult to survive a bullet in the head, so there’s not a lot they can do for their colleague. His killer, Undersheriff McKeen, covers his tracks with a bogus description of an assailant, and it looks like he may well get away with his crime. The good news is that Warrick’s death gives Sara Sidle the perfect excuse to return to Vegas, leading to some self-examination on the part of Grissom.

7pm, Falcon Crest, Zone Romantica
Yes, you did read that correctly! You might not have noticed this tucked away on the relatively obscure channel that is Zone Romantica, but if you need a break from drab British soaps, look no further. Cashing in on the popularity of 1980s hits like Dallas and Dynasty (and stealing the formatting of the opening credits too!) Falcon Crest followed the fortunes of a rich winemaking clan, headed by the matriarchal megabitch Angela Channing. It’s chock full of blackmail, murder and psychotic family members, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Never mind the new 90210 - bring back Falcon Crest!

7pm, Angel, Sci-Fi
Tonight’s a classic episode of Angel, as the head honchos at Wolfram & Hart give Lindsey an unusual bonus - a new hand to replace the one Angel chopped off. After a suitable honeymoon period with the new appendage, enjoying all the things two-handed people can do (not least playing his beloved guitar), Lindsey begins to realise the rather more sinister reason for his bosses’ unusual generosity - the hand has a life of its own, and is decidedly murderous.

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
It’s the pennultimate episode of the final series, and it seems the show’s creators have decided to kick their heels up and have some fun, so we meet Sheppard and McKay living in an alternative universe where they’re cops living in Vegas. Look out for the poker scene featuring some faces which will be familiar to fans of The Sopranos, as well as a couple of professional players and some of the big names behind the show. There’s an extended trailer below - 9 fabulous minutes - enjoy!

Pick of the Day | Tuesday 9 December

Joe Flanigan as Maj. John Sheppard in Stargate Atlantis

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
In tonight’s episode, Sheppard and the crew discover an apparently abandoned Wraith vessel and decide to take a look inside. Boarding the ship, accompanied by Major Lorne and his men, the gang soon find out that nothing is as it seems… and that what lies inside reveals more about the enemy than anyone could have known. The Wraith are also on Keller’s mind, as she is challenged to expand her knowledge of Wraith physiology.

9pm, CSI: Miami, Five
Alexx fans, get your hankies out - it’s the kindly ME’s last episode tonight as Khandi Alexander leaves the show. She definitely goes out with a bang, though - not only does a murder weapon lead back to her son, but she then finds him standing over a wounded friend holding a bloodied knife! Is her son a killer - or is someone framing him? Surely Horatio will find out…

10pm, Prison Break, Sky1
Poor Michael - not only is his condition continuing to decline but he’s now ended up in the hands of  the Company, who promise to save his life if Lincoln will just do a small favour for them. Elsewhere, Gretchen and Self manage to find themselves a buyer for Scylla, Mahone asks some familiar faces for help and T-Bag is up to his old tricks as he takes a couple of hostages. What will that charming psychopath get up to next?

Heartbeat

9pm, Eli Stone, Sci-Fi
After last week’s George Michael ‘life imitating vision’ incident, Eli finds his visions taking him into more sombre territory tonight as he recalls the day his father died. The visions also plonk him straight into his brother Nathan’s memories, where he uncovers a secret that could help Nathan’s case in a medical malpractice suit…

10pm, Lipstick Jungle, Living
More trials and tribulations for our sassy heroines this week, with love-life complications for Victory and work woes for Wendy and Nico. While Victory’s relationship with new man Rodrigo (played by Puerto Rican singer/actor Carlos Ponce) is going well - aside from some interference by Joe - Wendy’s John Lennon biopic project has hit a slight snag: the death of its leading man.

9pm, Sanctuary, ITV4
Will steps in to help former colleague Detective Cavanaugh unravel the circumstances surrounding an apparent suicide this week. Key to the investigation may be the dead man’s autistic son who can draw incredible pictures from memory - but all he keeps drawing are terrifying monsters. Elsewhere, Henry (Stargate Atlantis‘ Ryan Robbins) is worried by the increasing frequency of his transformations.

prison break

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
Poor Sheppard never has an easy life - and this week is no different for him. He’s in more trouble when he is kidnapped and imprisoned by an old enemy that he believed to be dead. While Sheppard contends with this latest drama, the Atlantis crew are busy discovering an ancient alien race. Let’s hope they call them something interesting…

9pm, CSI: Miami, Five
When two men are killed on the same day - one in a hit-and-run accident, the other in a shooting - the cases seem to be totally unconnected. That is until the ever-sharp Horatio discovers that a crusading TV show had recently exposed both victims as paedophiles. Could there be a vigilante killer on the rampage?

10pm, Prison Break, Sky1
Everything goes pretty smoothly this week as Michael and his merry men pull off the heist and finally lay their hands on Scylla. After tricking Pad Man they obtain the last keycard, and look forward to the end of their mission to bring down the Company. They even begin to entertain the notion of being free at last and leading normal lives - but with four more episodes left of the season it’s highly likely that not everything will go according to plan!

Pick of the Day | Tuesday 18 November

Michael and Lincoln Prison break

10pm, Prison Break, Sky1

With the plan to steal Scylla all in place, nothing can go wrong… as if! The entire mission depends on Michael’s health holding up, and he has been told that too much stress could kill him! What wont help matters is that Gretchen dresses up as a schoolgirl to lure Pad Man into a hotel room and steal his key card, but while she is undressing him he catches her patting him down! Lets hope Michael doesn’t see any of that!

9pm, CSI: Miami, Five

Horatio is on fire this week, he travels to Rio where he has a shoot-out in the jungle with four armed men, but of course he survives. He then quickly returns to Miami where he continues the search for kidnapped Calleigh. She is having a total nightmare, having to now help her captors cover their tracks when they kill someone. Of course she manages to leave a few helpful clues for the CSI’s that are looking for her to find. Clever!

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1

It’s as exciting as ever in Atlantis this week. Michael infiltrates Atlantis with a number of genetically modified henchmen. Using a puddle jumper to render the control room staff unconscious, he quickly takes over the ship. Hope you are keeping up! Teyla is being held captive behind a web of intricate defences, so the others in the team must stop their enemy before he takes total control of the ship - including the self-destruct mechanism! Told you it was exciting stuff!

Pick of the Day | Tuesday 28 October

CSI Miami, Elizabeth Berkeley

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
After last week’s exciting conclusion, which saw McKay and newcomer Daniel Jackson being stunned by aliens while scoping out a secret lab onboard the ship, what will befall our trusty space heroes this time? Daniel is frogmarched off with one of said aliens, and discovers that their captors are in fact Asgards. But these are Asgards with a difference… Meanwhile, Todd is approaching, and there doesn’t seem to be any way things can end well!

9m, CSI: Miami, Five
Horatio is in for a surprise when he and the team investigate the murder of billionaire and all-round nice guy Bill Winston. It turns out that Bill was in the process of getting his marriage annulled - and who was his blushing bride? None other than Julia, Horatio’s ex and mother of their convict son, Kyle! While another man is found responsible for the actual shooting, Kyle is certain that Julia has something to do with it. But can he prove it?

10pm, Prison Break, Sky1
This latest installment in the world’s most complicated drama sees Michael meeting up with JLOK and reluctantly agreeing to team up with her in order to find the remaining bird book pages. Bellick and Michael hear about Roland’s latest foolish scheme and first throw him against a car and then sit him in the naughty corner. Michael tells the team he’s planning on double-crossing JLOK. T-Bag tells JLOK she’s going to be double crossed. She doesn’t care. Futher shenanigans involving untraceable text messages, counterfeiting and characters with truly bizarre names follow. Confused? You will be!

Pick of the Day | Tuesday 21 October

Ghost Whisperer - Martin Donovan

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
Daniel Jackson pays a special visit to Atlantis, determined to find the secret lab of the ancient scientist Janus. All very well in principle - but his actions inadvertently trigger the arrival of a new, advanced race and they don’t seem all that pleased about their unscheduled trip. This episode is a two-parter, with the conclusion to the story next Tuesday.

9pm, CSI: Miami, Five
Ryan and Alexx arrive at their latest crime scene to find the victim lying in a pool of blood and shattered glass. Ryan insists on dusting the body for prints using a fumigation tent, but a fire breaks out and the whole place goes up like a crystal meth lab - mainly because it is one. Thankfully it takes more than a fiery inferno to faze Horatio -possibly because he can’t see the flames with his sunglasses on.

9pm & 10pm, Ghost Whisperer, Living
SERIES FINALE Melinda has an emotional reunion with her dad Tom (recurring guest star Martin Donovan) when she re-examines the case of a man he convicted for murder, but it wouldn’t be a series finale without a bunch of twists and revelations, and of course a big ol’ cliffhanger at the end…

Pick of the Day | Tuesday 14 October

Stargate Atlantis - Tracker

8pm, Stargate Atlantis, Sky1
Keller finds herself in a bit of a pickle when she’s abducted by a Runner who needs her medical expertise. Ronon and McKay quickly spot that she’s gone missing and set off in hot pursuit, but the task shows all too clearly how much McKay relies on his gadgets to survive, and how helpless he is against someone instinctive like a Runner. It also leads to some revelations about both men’s feelings for Keller. This could get very complicated.

9pm, Ghost Whisperer, Living
Rick meets up with former girlfriend Nina (played by his real-life wife) and realises he might be the father of her 10-year-old son, a fact which provokes the wrath of his dead wife’s ghost. Man, she makes the spirits in The Exorcist look like a bunch of fairies! Anyway, as always the only person who can sort things out is Melinda, but the case leaves her with some personal demons to deal with, the main one being her own desire for children. After seeing what Kate tried to do to Rick with a bookcase, a piano and some chandeliers I’m not sure I’d be too keen to bring kids into the equation…

10pm, Chuck, Virgin1
We still don’t know when series two of the sassy spy comedy will show up in the UK, but presumably not for another 13 weeks at least since Virgin1 are choosing to air the whole of series one again, starting tonight. If you missed it first time round it is well worth a viewing, with Zachary Levi as Chuck, a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government’s most vital secret agent while maintaining his cover among his fellow computer geeks at the Buy More Electronics store. Here’s the original promo from NBC.
