Hurrah! 30 Rock returns to UK tellyscreens on Monday in it’s new home on ComedyCentral (formerly Paramount Comedy). We’ve been scouring YouTube for some of the best clips, but it seems there’s been a bit of a clampdown. So here are four and a bit clips featuring some of the guest stars who’ll pop up, but also keep an eye out for Alan Alda, Steve Martin and Mad Men’s Jon Hamm. Here we go…
1. Will & Grace’s Megan Mullally [contains a couple of minor spoilers]
2. Jennifer Aniston
3. Oprah Winfrey
4. Salma Hayek
5. Sheryl Crowe, Moby, Someone from Maroon 5, Cyndi Lauper, Elvis Costello and a dozen more pop stars. Admittedly, no video of this is currently on YouTube…
The competition to win a Dexter bobble head has now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered, and correctly answered that Dexter star Michael C Hall previously starred in the dark comedy drama Six Feet Under.
We put everyone’s names in the proverbial hat, and the 5 lucky winners are:
1. Celia West from Dorset
2. Lisa Ellison from Somerset
3. Claire Newby from Cheshire
4. Darren Lavin from Wigan
5. Catherine Davies from Cheshire
Congratulations you five, your bobble head Dexters will be winging their way to you first thing on Monday morning! Commiserations to the rest of you - console yourself with the brand new series, which begins tonight on FX.
No, of course, not - everyone’s favourite serial killer has still got that lean, mean murderous streak we all know and love.
Series three of Dexter, which returns to the UK on FXon Friday 24th April, sees our somewhat questionable hero emerge as a much more confident killer after getting off scott-free for his crimes in the previous series. On top of that, he develops an unlikely and dangerous friendship with politician Miguel Prado (The West Wing’s Jimmy Smits), who seems to share Dexter’s bloodlust.
To celebrate Dexter’s return, the fab folk at FX have given us 5 of these marvellous Dexter Bobble Head dolls that we, generous to a fault, are passing on to you!
All of this can only mean one thing - it’s competition time on TV Spy. To be in with a chance of winning one of the dolls, all you have to do is answer this fiendishly tough question:
Q. Which other cult US drama did Michael C Hall appear in before he became the murderous Dexter?
Email us your answer, with ‘Dexter competition’ in the subject line, at tvspy@ipcmedia.com. The competition will close on Friday 24th, just as the new series starts!
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept entries submitted via the comments section of our blog. All entries must be via email.
We will collect your personal email data solely to process your competition entry. Prize will be awarded to the first 5 correct entries drawn at random under independent supervision after the competition closes at noon on Friday 24th. We will notify the winners by email within 21 days of this closing date. The prize consists of 1 Dexter Bobble Head Doll. Promoter: IPC Media. Prize Supplier: FX. If you’ve been getting withdrawal symptoms from The Tudors, the bodice-ripping drama starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as legendary monarch Henry VIII, look no further - Showtime has given TV blog Ducky Does TV access to a slightly edited verson of the first episode of season three.
The volume Villains draws to a close with the great Primatech face-off in episode 13, Duel, but did Ben and Gareth think it was awesome or awful? And will they still be watching in 2009?
We may have been studying Heroes for three seasons now, but we have still not managed to master the art of time travel, no matter how much we squint our eyes and scrunch our faces…
So apologies for the vodcast showing up a few days later than usual. This week’s episode, Our Father, is the penultimate one before the end of the Villains volume, and the tension is really mounting…
This week’s episode of Heroes, The Eclipse Part Two, has really divided critics of the show… Robert Canning at IGN.com reckons ‘from the looks of things, the writers have countless hats hanging by very loose threads’, but Stephen Lackey at mania.com thinks the show is ‘on the road to recovery’…
So what did our TV Spy duo Ben and Gareth make of it? Time to find out… (as always, you can watch the boys in glorious high definition on the tvspy youtube site!)
Yes, TV Spy guys Ben and Gareth are back to wax lyrical on episode 10 of Heroes, the long-awaited Eclipse Part I. You’ll probably not be surprised to learn that the episode has left them with a few questions… What’s up with that eclipse anyway? What does the future hold for Nathan? Will HRG ever stop calling his grown-up daughter Claire-Bear? Actually, that last one’s mine…
Take it away, chaps! (As always, you can watch the duo in high quality on youtube - just select the high quality option once you arrive on the tvspy guys youtube page.]
Crikey - I am more confused than ever by episode nine of Heroes, the menacingly titled It’s Coming. Is Arthur Petrelli going soft? Why else would he suddenly free Angela from her mental prison? I think there’s got to be a machiavellian scheme behind it, and it must involve Claire, since his rather useless henchmen Flimsy Flint and Knee-trembling Knox failed to snag her… And there’s another thing that’s bothering me - how does Nathan navigate his way round when he flies - does he consult passing geese, or does he have a sneaky GPS system stashed in his pocket?
Anyway, without further ado, let me introduce the men in the know, Ben and Gareth… perhaps I can send my queries to them…
It’s that time of the week again already, and Ben and Gareth have applied their TV expertise to the latest instalment of Heroes, episode eight - Villains.
The good news is there’s no mention of the tortoise/turtle debacle… the bad news is Ben still has it in for Mohinder…
Don’t forget, if you want to watch our handsome duo in high quality (and hey, who wouldn’t?) just visit the vid at its youtube home, and click on the magic watch in high quality words below the screen.
