TV Spylights | The pick of the past week on TV Spy

There have been some big hitters on the site this week - 24, Lost, Heroes, Scream Queens…

He’s an actor we’d never have had down as a luvvie, but Robert Carlyle did go on a bit about his mate Kiefer when we interviewed him about his role in 24: Redemption. And he manages to introduce TV Spy’s first cuss word. Don’t show that to your granny.

It seems JJ Abrams is becoming the new Alfred Hitchcock when it comes to influencing other directors - check out Smallville going all Cloverfield for its big wedding episode…

Ben found more clips of the Scream Queens in action. It’s our absolutely favourite new show (even though we haven’t seen a full episode it yet).

It seems like 8 years since Bret and Jemaine were entertaining us with their quirky songs, so it’s great to see a new Flight of the Conchords trailer.

We discovered the only thing that could get us more excited than the return of the Cadburys Wispa bar - a  tantalising Lost series five promotion poster.

And finally, it’s the highlight of everyone’s week - go on, admit it! It’s the Heroes vodcast with Ben and Gareth, and the boys seem to have found a new recording venue. All decorating suggestions welcome!

The latest on Scream Queens, where things are getting a little saucy…

It’s been a couple of weeks since we updated you on VH1’s hunt for the next Saw star Scream Queens – and because VH1 insist on putting clips of the show on the UK-unfriendly Hula site we have to rely on our TV hero Joel McHale to brief us on The Soup. So here we go: this week Michelle goes all out to prove her, ahem, acting credentials, while Jessica takes her screen test to a rather offensive new level – “a place where no one else will take it”.

Warning, things get a little naughty…

Brace yourselves for another truly horrific clip from VH1’s terrifying Scream Queens

We told you last week about our new favourite show Scream Queens, VH1’s quest to find an actress dumb brave enough to appear in the sixth installment of the Saw movie franchise. In the first edition, the girls had to bathe with a snake - but that couldn’t have prepared them for the shock that awaited them when a room full of creepy dolls appeared in episode two.

We warn you, this clip is truly horrific…

Yep, we share Tanedra’s philosophy of running when the crowd runs. How could we disagree with someone who currently works at Hooters?

• After last week’s first tantalising glimpse of the trailer for the new series of Lost, Jack and co are back on our minds, and Ben started analysing the meaning behind the first six episode titles. He’ll be completing his PhD sometime in 2009…

• Jonathan stumbled across the heart-warming reunion of the original Wassssup? guys, brought together for a new viral in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama. (are we supposed to say something nice about McCain now in the name of balance and fairness???)

• There was an audible cheer in the office when we discovered that a Channel 4 decision-making bod had opted to show the all-new 90210.

• There was an equally audible squeal when we came across this masterpiece of television-making - Scream Queens. Channel 4 bod, please get your chequebook out again!

• Matt Groening and co impressed us (as always) with their Simpsons parody of the Mad Men opening credits. Will the Mad Men return the compliment?

House and Cuddy finally snogged. I dunno guys, Moonlighting was never the same after David and Maddie locked lips…

24’s coming back for a full season in the New Year and we’ve got the trailer to prove it! At least until Fox track it down and take it off youtube again… I think they’ve got CTU monitoring it all the time…

Great US shows we want to see over here No345: Scream Queens

Below is a trailer for Scream Queens, a new US reality show in which a group of wannabe actresses compete for a role in a Hollywood blockbuster. Well, when we say Hollywood blockbuster, we mean Saw 6 (yes, there will be a sixth Saw!).

Anyhow, watched over by acting coach extraordinaire John Homa (look at all the talent he’s nurtured here) and Shawnee Smith (”Star of Saw, Saw 2 AND Saw 3″) the girls learn to do stunts, scream, get bludgeoned to death and kiss each other. It’s all brilliantly awful – and be sure to press play below to discover what happens when each girl gets the axe…

Come on, VH1, show it over here!
