A lesson is to be learned with this episode - you can be too much of a practical joker. A Marine, notorious for being a prankster, is found dead on Halloween and it seems that his love of practical jokes might have been the motive for his murder.

There are two top guest stars to look out for in tonight’s episode - Whoopi Golberg and Clarke Peters from The Wire - as Sam investigates the death of an African American woman who was thrown from a roof by a Puerto Rican, leading to racial conflict between the two communities.

There is something very likeable about Jason O’Mara as Sam Tyler, though Harvey Keitel cannot wipeout memories of Philip Glenister as Gene Hunt. Tonight Sam gets caught up in the middle of an investigation into a gang of armed robbers who have killed four people.

The ghost of creepy FBI profiler Agent Cooper appears to Allison with information on a serial killer. But, as the investigation unfolds, Allison starts to question his role in the murders.

NEW SERIES Well done those lovely people at FX. We don’t have to wait until next year for the resolution to last week’s cliff-hanging finale because they are showing the new seventh series straightaway. Without giving too much away, life will never be the same again for Ziva.

NEW SERIES Okay, it hasn’t got John Simm or Philip Glenister in it, but it’s fun watching Jason O’Mara and Harvey Keitel step into their shoes in this US version of the hit British show. New York detective Sam Tyler is hit by a car in 2008 and wakes up in 1973 where there are no computers or forensics to help with the crime-solving - just old-fashioned (and brutal) detective work.
