Shelley ‘Cheers’ Long makes an appearance as DeDe, Jay’s ex-wife, who drops by unexpectedly to apologise for the incident she caused at his wedding to Gloria. The whole family meets up at Claire’s house for dinner, where DeDe tries to make up with everyone, but unsurprisingly succeeds only in making things worse…

9pm, Bones, Sky1
A first mystery, the discovery of charred human remains, is resolved when Brennan determines the ‘victim’ is an ancient Egyptian mummy, but a second mystery proves more shocking after the museum curator in charge of the mummy is brutally murdered. Meanwhile, Booth is jealous when Brennan goes on a date with one of his former supervisors, and Sweet’s girlfriend Daisy is back on duty.

10pm, Lie to Me, Sky1
We’re going to set Cal Lightman on the schedulers at Sky1, who told us they were going to show an old episode of the drama tonight when we were putting this week’s mag together. Instead, they’ve gone ahead with a nice shiny new episode, with guest star Lennie James as someone from Cal’s past who he’s not too happy to be reunited with.

10pm, Private Practice, Living
Addison and Violet try to persuade a Katie to have life-saving surgery, but she’s in a state after losing her baby. Dell’s also struggling with loss, now his ex has moved away and taken his daughter with her, and Addison’s still going through the wringer about the whole Noah thing.

10pm, Lie to Me, Sky1
Cal and the team help to track down a man wanted for murdering his wife, but things turn nasty when the suspect takes Torres hostage at gunpoint and demands that the team clear his name.

10.40pm, Curb Your Enthusiasm, More4
Woo hoo! It’s the episode we’ve all been waiting for, as the cast of Seinfeld are reunited - even though Larry is dead set against it. He only relents when he realises it may be a way to win Cheryl back, and convinces Jerry, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards to return. It won’t be that straightforward though…

There’s no Private Practice this week, thanks to Living’s Halloween Most Haunted Live Special! Tut!

Heather’s Pick of the Day | Thursday 22 October

 Modern Family - bicycle thief

8pm, Modern Family, Sky1
This is shaping up to be a firm office favourite. In tonight’s episode, Phil shows just how irresponsible he really is when he meets a sexy new neighbour, Jay and Manny try to bond over a ceiling fan, and Cameron tries to suppress his Disco-Stu ways on his first day at the nursery.

9pm, Bones, Sky1
The discovery of human remains near a railway line leads the team to an Amish community, and some insight into their desire to live apart from the rest of society. Meanwhile, Booth enlists some good ol’ scare tactics when Cam’s adopted daughter Michelle seems to be growing up too fast.

10pm, Private Practice, Living
There’s a bit of a fast-forward tonight, three months to be precise - Addison is falling for another man, this time a cardiac surgeon at St Ambrose Hospital, but you get the distinct impression it’s going to end in tears…  Violet, meanwhile, is surprisingly serene even though Pete and Sheldon are pressuring for a DNA test for the baby.

10pm, Lie to Me, Sky1
Gillian forces Cal to take a holiday so he heads to Mexico, but still ends up on a case. Back at the institute, one of Cal’s old foes makes the most of the boss’s absence to get involved in a case of tainted blood that is causing havoc in local hospitals.

10.30pm,The Loop, E4
NEW COMEDY Well, not strictly new - it was on Trouble before, but you may have missed it. It stars Bret Harrison, who is now of course in Reaper. Bret plays Sam (there must be something in his contract), a young man who lands a job as an airline executive, but then has to find a balance between work and his hectic social life with his slacker friends. The pilot is great, but the reviews we’ve read implies it takes a dive toward the end of the series…
