Who’s won the Pushing Daisies DVD competition?

pushing daisies series 2 dv boxset competition

There’s good news, and bad news…

The bad news is that our competition to win the season 2 boxset of Pushing Daisies has now closed.

The good news is that the fab chaps at Ian Johnson Publicity surpassed themselves, and sent us 5 extra DVDs and some extra signed pictures too!

So the first 6 winners will receive the season two boxset and the signed pictures; and the other 4 will win the boxset alone.

And the lucky folk, who correctly answered that Digby was Ned’s loyal dog, are:

1. Ann Tibbats
2. Sarah Tilley
3. Sarah Whittington
4. Laura Dowdy
5. Lisa Akrivos
6. Toni Quandt

7.  Alison Gorrie
8. Samantha Freeman
9. Anthony Williams
10. Sonia Thompson

Congratulations to all! If you haven’t given us your address we’ll be in touch today.

Thanks everyone for visiting our blog - hope to see you all again soon!

Competition time | Pushing Daisies goodies to be won!

pushing daisies series 2 dv boxset competition

Pushing Daisies may now be pushing up daisies itself, but that doesn’t mean we intend to let it go without a proper send-off. We badly miss the exploits of Ned, Chuck and the Pie Hole crew - there’s just no other show around at the minute that hits the spot when you want something so sweet and wholesome. It’s definitely the TV equivalent of comfort food!

To mark the show’s passing, we’ve got 5 DVD box sets of series two, which will be available to buy from 25th May, along with some signed pictures of the cast, to give away.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is answer this question:

Q: In Pushing Daisies, what is the name of Ned’s loyal dog?

Email us your answer, with ‘Pushing Daisies competition’ clearly marked in the subject line, at tvspy@ipcmedia.com. The competition will close at midnight on Thursday 28th May.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept entries submitted via the comments section of our blog. All entries must be via email.

We will collect your personal email data solely to process your competition entry. Prize will be awarded to the first correct entry drawn at random under independent supervision after the competition closes at midnight on Thursday 28th May.  We will notify the winners by email within 21 days of this closing date. The prize consists of box sets of Pushing Daisies series 2, and signed photographs. Promoter: IPC Media. Prize Supplier: Ian Johnson Publicity.

Terrible news just in: Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone get the chop

 PUSHING DAISIES IS AXED

After weeks of will-they-or-won’t-they speculation, US channel ABC have finally pulled the plug on the sublime Pushing Daisies. We’re also hearing that Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money won’t be recomissioned after the first 13 episodes of their second seasons are broadcast. We’re pretty gutted about all three, though our hearts are truly broken over the loss of the mesmerising  Pushing Daisies. We hope ITV1 holds true to its promise of showing the entire second series in a decent slot.  Sob.

All aboard the Pie Hole! Pushing Daisies tour coming to a town near you*

Pie Hole 3

With less than a month to go until the Stateside return of Pushing Daises – our favourite slice of whimsical comedy drama – those darn nice folk at ABC are taking to the road with their Mobile Pie Hole to serve up some of Ned’s finest pies, a few surprise treats and a whole lot of smiles.

The Touch of Wonder Tour is taking in cities across America, but even if you live no where near any of the chosen locations – like us – it’s worth paying the website a visit. As well as giving you the opportunity to send an email daisy to a friend, there are a few recipes for some of Ned’s tasty pies. We’ll be trying our hand at Ned’s One-Minute Blueberry Pie this weekend.

This reminds us how much we’re looking forward to the return of Pushing Daises – click here for our sneak peek at series two.

* Er, providing you live in America, of course! Perhaps ITV will offer a similar tasty treat when series two hits tellyscreens on this side of the Pond.

How do you top the magic-realist insanity of the first season of Pushing Daisies? How about some pretty-creepy clowns and mime artists? A human cannon ball? Missi Pyle as an evil bee-keeping honey magnate? A Sound of Music pastiche starring the inimitable Olive? Or 3rd Rock’s French Stewart as a Gil Grissom-alike insect freak? Judging from the trailer above, we certainly won’t be disappointed by the second series - just so long as ITV decide to show the entire run this time…

More exciting Emmys nominations news

OK, remember how last week we told you about the shortlists for this year’s drama and comedy Emmy awards?

Well, now, via Los Angeles Times writer Tom O’Neil’s hugely impressive Gold Derby blog, we are picking up news on the Drama Supporting Actor and Comedy Actress categories, too.

The biggest surprise in the drama actor category is that last year’s winner, Terry O’Quinn (Locke in Lost), has been snubbed. On the plus side, his co-stars Naveen Andrews (Sayid) and Michael Emerson (Ben) are included.

In the comedy actress category, there’s a trio of Desperate Housewives: Marcia Cross, Eva Longaria Parker and Felicity Huffman. The only lead cast member missing is Teri Hatcher, who has obviously done something to annoy the Emmy judges (mugging endlessly for the cameras, perhaps?). Also, rather thrillingly, our very own Anna Friel is there for Pushing Daisies. Go Anna!

We should make it clear that neither shortlist has yet been confirmed by the Emmys’ organisers, but Tom O’Neil has an enviable track record on these matters and is right more often than not.

Five from each category will make the final voting list. The names marked in red are the ones we reckon should make the final list. Let us know if you agree…

Drama Supporting Actor
Naveen Andrews, Lost
• Bruce Dern, Big Love
• Christian Clemenson, Boston Legal
Ted Danson, Damages
Michael Emerson, Lost
• Zeljko Ivanek, Damages

Emmy comedy and drama finalists announced – what do you think?

The final list of nominations for this year’s Emmys won’t be announced until 17 July, but, for the first time ever, the awards’ organisers, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, has revealed the top 10 finalists for this year’s drama and comedy series awards. Five from each category will make the final voting list.

Notable absentees are Battlestar Galactica in the drama category and My Name is Earl in comedy, but we’d love to hear what you think. The programmes marked in red are the ones we reckon should make the final list…

Four things we learned today | Wednesday 25 June

1) ITV will be showing the second series of Pushing Daisies next year. Here’s hoping they show all the episodes this time.

2) After yesterday’s pictures of Claire with a gun, we’ve now found new Heroes series 3 pictures of Peter dressed like an extra from Grease.

3) Hot on the tail of Fringe and Life on Mars, two more pilots have turned up on illegal file-sharing sites. The first, Raising the Bar, is a new legal drama from Hill Street Blues and Murder One creator Steven Bochco starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek. The second, Leverage, is an Amercan version of Hustle starring Timothy Hutton and our very own Gina Bellman.

4) Spice Girl Mel B will co-host this year’s Miss Universe Pageant with Jerry Springer.

Great news, Pushing Daisies fans. ITV2 are showing the ‘missing’ episode!

pushingdaisies460.jpg

We all got a little irate earlier in the year when ITV1 decided to axe the second episode of Pushing Daisies, supposedly to make the nine-part series fit into an eight-week window before the footie took over the tellybox.

If you haven’t got round to viewing the second instalment at itv.com (or through more nefarious means), we are now delighted to be able to tell you that this dizzyingly demented slice of noirish whimsy will be airing at 8pm on ITV2 on Friday 20 June.

ITV2, we salute you – not least because the episode features this remarkable musical interlude courtesy of the sublime Olive…

Are these the sexiest men on US TV?

They are as far as we’re concerned, but what do we know… tell us who we’ve forgotten!
