Lost fans, activate those eagle eyes - the Ajira Airways website is up and running and full of clues

AJIRA AIRWAYS

You might remember back in November, we noticed an unusual logo in the Fray’s Lost season-five-clip-featuring pop video, and discovered it was promoting a mysterious airline.

Back then there was just a holding page, but we’ve been checking in to the airline site intermittently and it seems Ajira Airways is now well and truly active, and awaiting your scrutiny.

Carrying on with the theme of Destiny that has been popping up all over the season five trailers, the site offers a mysterious ticket up for grabs for the credit-crunch friendly price of $87.Here’s what it offers: ‘Get lost in the wild wonder of the world and let time and space have no consequence. For $87 you’ll be whisked away to an unknown fateful destination of your destiny. China to Chicago, step aboard the grandest grab bag around. Upon arrival a brave new world will unfold right before your eyes. Pack light and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime as you experience the sensational world around us - only with Ajira Airlines DESTINATION: DESTINY.’

The site has loads of other hidden corners to explore and, as always, hints secreted within clips and pictures - anyone know what that split-second picture is during the introductory video on the home page??? Tell us what Lost easter eggs you’ve discovered on there.

And if you decide to book a flight with Ajira, don’t forget to send us a postcard!

How far would you go? Another new trailer for Lost season five…

Another day, another new trailer for Lost series five - and more pertinent questions to ask. Why is Desmond fleeing from Penny and what appears to be their newborn baby? Is Charlotte dead? Why is Sun pulling a gun on Kate? Who is Sayid going to murder? And does Locke think he’s appearing in The 39 Steps? Here we go again…

Lost series 5 - yet another preview clip! with John Locke talking backwards!

The Lost publicity juggernaut is really at full speed now, and this clip comes with a health warning… you may need to lie down with a warm flannel on your forehead after viewing.

Lost Series Five Sneak Peak Part Two | Jack and Ben

The Lost team have released another sneak peak video, featuring Jack and Ben having a tete-a-tete about Locke, the Island, and the people left behind. Ah Ben, still the master of manipulation…

And beneath the preview clip, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse answer some viewers’ questions. Nice special effects, chaps!

Look out – it’s another new Lost season five cast photo!

New Lost Season Five Cast Shot!

Here’s the latest cast shot for season five of Lost. Do you like how they’ve managed to combine the twin ideas of half the cast being in the big city and other half on a tropical island? There’s still no sign of Jin or Claire, though curiously Charlotte’s still there despite reports that she’s no longer a series regular. And if you look carefully, you’ll be able to see a few Dharma supplies scattered around the gang.  What do you suppose that means? Are the Dharma Initiative really going to be back on the island when the series returns?

More Lost video – Are you ready for mockumentary Oceanic Six: A Conspiracy of Lies?

Courtesy of Doc Artz, this mockumentary about the Oceanic Six sets the scene for the fifth season of Lost perfectly. Combining clips of the O6 with interviews from Oceanic Airways staff and analysis from ‘experts’, this film is pretty interesting and is a great pastiche of shoddy TV documentaries…

We just found another clip from the new series of Lost… Look out Kate!

Take a look at this clip from series five of Lost… It’s just as well Kate’s got plenty of experience going on the run. Looks like she’s going to need it…

Lost’s Dharma Initiative reveals a surprisingly open policy towards information

 LOST DHARMA INITIATIVE

Those of you who stuck with the Dharma Initiative’s frustratingly mind-boggling tests a few months ago will now have been rewarded with a mailout giving you access to the first in what we presume will be a series of videos, pictures and interviews to get us in the mood for the new series of Lost.

If you gave up on the whole malarkey, then have no fear - the link is here! Just memorise the password from the first screen (ours says lafleur), then click on that first screen and enter the password on the second screen.  We’ll keep you posted when new material pops up on there - is it normal to be more excited about Lost than Christmas???

The latest Lost mystery – What is Ajira Airways?

Ajira Airways - Lost mystery?

Eagle-eyed TV spies might have noticed a curious logo during the Fray’s Lost season-five-clip-featuring pop video. And as Heather discovered, it is in fact the logo for Ajira Airways – but what on earth is that?

If you head over to the Ajira Aiways website you’ll discover they’re apparently a new travel operator who claim ‘the skies have no limit’, inviting us to ‘take an adventure anywhere around the globe and reimagine your world as big as ours’. They say their new destinations will be launching on January 21st, 2009 – which just happens to be about the time Lost returns to our screens.

What’s more, you can join the mailing list for future information. Does this mean another Lost ARG is in the offing? And who could be behind Ajira Airways - surely the only people who could afford such a project are Charles Widmore, lotto-winner Hurley or the vengeful Sun?

One last thing – ajira is apparently Hindi for island

Well, bizarrely, you can see them in this new video by rockers the Fray. There’s some really cool clips of the ‘bad things’ that appear to be happening on the island post the Ocean Six’s departure, and what’s that awesome logo after you see Desi in bed with Penny? The Lost hype machine has been cranked up to 11 and we can’t wait for the series to return!

Look at this rather mysterious but pretty awesome new poster for season five of Lost!

New Lost Season Five Poster!

So many questions are raised by this new Lost promo. Is it the Oceanic Five (plus Ben and Desmond) versus those left on the island this season? Should we be concerned that there’s no sign of Jin with the other islanders? Where are Rose and Bernard (perhaps they’re with Molly off Heroes)? And what about Vincent the Dog? Why hasn’t he had his own photoshoot yet?

And whose destiny is calling? Is Destiny a new character? If you’ve any idea what this mysterious new poster means, do let us know…

Six things we learned today | Monday 17 November

 Monk to end!

1. The next obsessive, compulsive season of Monk will be its last.

2. Pamela Anderson is to guest star as herself in the US version of Kath & Kim.

3. Former 24 star Reiko Aylesworth will be involved in multiple romances in Lost.

4. And there’s plenty of backstage Lost info in this chat with the show’s producers - including why Mr Eko didn’t stick around for long…

5. One former County nurse who won’t be returning in ER’s finale series is Julianna Margulies’s grumpy-pants Carol Hathaway.

6. Alec Baldwin’s face has appeared on toilet paper in the Netherlands to promote 30 Rock.

1. We’ll be seeing a new side to Sun in the next season of Lost – and isn’t it strange to hear Jin speaking English in the above preview video.

2. Sarah Palin apparently won’t be appearing in Desperate Housewives.

3. Meanwhile, someone Susan loves is going to perish in the Desperate Housewives inferno.

4. The TV Addict is stalking Mark’s beau Cliff off Ugly Betty.

ABC announces Lost series five air date in the US… surely us Brits can’t be far behind?

lost series 5

Yes, big news, ABC have confirmed that Lost will be back on air in the US from Wednesday 21st January, with a three-hour special - one hour of serious recapping on the previous four seasons, and then the first two episodes of the new run, “Because You Left” and “The Lie” (titles that led to much speculation by Lost daftie Ben).

Come on Sky, hurry up and get it in your schedules!

For any Virgin viewers reading, you might want to get caught up on Lost season four first… unless of course Sky do the decent thing and rerun it in the weeks before the new series begins - perhaps we should start a campaign!

What can we learn from the episode titles for the first six episodes of Lost season five?

Will the Oceanic Six’s secrets be revealed?

The titles of the first six episodes of the next season of Lost have been revealed, giving us salivating Losties an idea of what’s to come.  But what could each ep title be referring to? We thought we’d indulge in some idle speculation…

5.01 Because You Left Surely the ‘you’ of the title refers to Oceanic Six (perhaps specifically Jack?) - so hopefully we won’t have long to wait before discovering quite what terrible things occurred on the island after the O6 departed. And, with any luck, we’ll find out whether the island has indeed been shifted back in time - giving Sawyer, Juliet and co the chance to hang out with the Dharma Dudes - or simply moved to a different location.

Sylar boldly goes…

Here’s a mightily airbrushed official new photo of Heroes’ Zachary Quinto as Spock on the cover of the US magazine Entertainment Weekly, promoting next year’s much-anticipated big-budget Star Trek movie.

Directed by Lost and Fringe-maker JJ Abrams, the film stars Chris Pine (we hadn’t heard of him either, so we looked him up and found out he’s been in CSI:Miami and Six Feet Under) alongside pointy-eared Quinto, who has hinted that the latest Star Trek franchise could be the first of many.

‘It is a multiple-picture deal,’ he says. And of Spock: ‘The interesting thing is that you meet this character before you ever knew him on the television series and the other movies, so [this film is] an exploration of how he got to that point.’ Will we find out if Spock has a first name? ‘You’re going to have to wait and see!’

At the moment, Star Trek is slated for a 9 May 2009 UK release. Here’s the teaser poster and trailer…

Trying to please the Dharma Initiative is a Lost cause

Dharma front screen

Back in July, spurred on by our own scheming mastermind Ben, a few of us TV Spy Lost dafties jumped at the chance to undergo The Dharma Initiative’s eligibility test, a seemingly inane cognitive skills test measuring whether you’ve got what it takes to join the company’s Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications.

Following the initial assessment, there was a video to all recruits, complete with conspiratorial distortions…

Dharma videos

Since then, I’ve had to undergo two more tests. I haven’t felt so much pressure since my 11+ exam!

Test 1: Pressurized Spatial Judgement Evaluation… Sounds serious, but I like jigsaws, so that one was fine.

Test 2: Broad Spectrum Knowledge Analysis… Sounds like general knowledge. I’m no trivia queen, but I thought I was doing OK – until, that is, I came to this question…

Dharma - that question!

Test 3: Dexterity and Attentiveness Evaluation… I should have had more coffee before attempting this.

Test 4: Tangential Judgment Analysis… Lost seems pretty good at going off on tangents to me…

What do they mean? How am I doing? Will I pass?

My progress looks like this so far, but those sneaky Dharma bods use suitably incomprehensible labels, so Richard Alpert could be coming round to ask me about knives, or I could be on the shortlist for people forced to push the donkey wheel.

Dharma - my progress

Have you done your tests, too? And if so, how have you fared so far?Check out DharmaWantsYou right now if you haven’t joined in the ‘fun’ yet. There’s still plenty of time to sign up!

Namaste!

Want to be in Lost? Now’s your chance

happycouple.jpg

Hey - want to star in Lost? Are you in Honolulu this weekend? Would you describe yourself as being part of the social demographic best described as ‘anyone’?

Well, Doc Artz is reporting an open casting call for absolutely anyone to turn up and win a role in our favourite time-shifting, island-based survivalist series. What could this mean? Do Carlton and Damon require a bus-load of new extras to take over from all the beach-dwellers who were left island-less on the high seas last season? Do they need a new bunch of Others if we’re likely to meeting the Flight 815ers who were taken early in series one? Or are we finally going to see a bunch of new Dharma types doing strange things in labs somewhere?

At the moment, we just don’t know - but one thing’s for sure. Extras in Lost have a rather short lifespan, and any plans for even more new characters must mean a murderous purge is on the way – as TV Spy faves Paulo and Nikki discovered.

The Dharma Initiative wants you!

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Hot on the heels of their recruitment drive at Comic-Con, Lost’s very own hatch-loving beardy boffins the Dharma Initiative have taken their search for specially gifted people to the internet.

Head over to Dharma Wants You and you’ll find an eligibility test that assesses your cognitive skills to see if you’ve got what it takes to joing them in the Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications.

Here at TV Spy Towers, we all passed with flying colours, so either the criteria for membership is pretty low or we’re just warped enough to fit in with the Initiative. Once you’ve completed the test, you’ll start receiving emails from Dharma’s head of recruitment, Hans Van Eeghen, and you’ll be ready to participate in the first round of the assessment…

In case you hadn’t realised, Dharma Wants You is this year’s Lost alternate reality game, filling the gaping chasm until the series returns next year.

Previous games have revealed the importance of the Valenzetti Equation and uncovered the location of the faked wreck of flight 185. It’s too early to say what might be revealed this time around, but we’ll keep you up to date with any juicy Dharma tidbits as soon as they emerge.

Lost | Some Comic-Con Chatter

Damon and Carlton Lost Comic-Con

The stars and showrunners of some of our favourite programmes gathered in San Diego last week for Comic-Con, and it was a particular treat to hear (via the gift of YouTube - available here, here, here and finally here) what Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof had to say about the most recent season of Lost and hint at what’s to come next year.
