The volume Villains draws to a close with the great Primatech face-off in episode 13, Duel, but did Ben and Gareth think it was awesome or awful? And will they still be watching in 2009?
Take it away, boys!
The volume Villains draws to a close with the great Primatech face-off in episode 13, Duel, but did Ben and Gareth think it was awesome or awful? And will they still be watching in 2009?
Take it away, boys!
We may have been studying Heroes for three seasons now, but we have still not managed to master the art of time travel, no matter how much we squint our eyes and scrunch our faces…
So apologies for the vodcast showing up a few days later than usual. This week’s episode, Our Father, is the penultimate one before the end of the Villains volume, and the tension is really mounting…
Take it away, Ben and Gareth!
The latest series of Heroes webisodes kicks off on 15th December. Called The Recruit, the online episodes tell the story of how a number of marines were recruited by The Pinehearst Company and injected with a mysterious serum. Here’s a sneak peek at the first one, starring the ever-delightful Angela Petrelli.
And here’s a glimpse behind the scenes…
We’ll keep you updated on the web series, and hopefully post the latest episodes when/if they’re Youtubed…
This week’s episode of Heroes, The Eclipse Part Two, has really divided critics of the show… Robert Canning at IGN.com reckons ‘from the looks of things, the writers have countless hats hanging by very loose threads’, but Stephen Lackey at mania.com thinks the show is ‘on the road to recovery’…
So what did our TV Spy duo Ben and Gareth make of it? Time to find out… (as always, you can watch the boys in glorious high definition on the tvspy youtube site!)
Yes, TV Spy guys Ben and Gareth are back to wax lyrical on episode 10 of Heroes, the long-awaited Eclipse Part I. You’ll probably not be surprised to learn that the episode has left them with a few questions… What’s up with that eclipse anyway? What does the future hold for Nathan? Will HRG ever stop calling his grown-up daughter Claire-Bear? Actually, that last one’s mine…
Take it away, chaps! (As always, you can watch the duo in high quality on youtube - just select the high quality option once you arrive on the tvspy guys youtube page.]
1. James Van Der Beek looks like he’s a very naughty boy indeed in his guest gig on One Tree Hill.
2. Here’s a sneak peak of next Thursday’s sneak peak of Battlestar Galactica’s concluding season.
3. Life on Mars US has had its first season extended.
4. Some promo shots of Seth Green and Brekin Meyer’s guest roles in Heroes have been released.
5. Lynette’s mum is returning to cause more mayhem for the Desperate Housewives.
6. Three new superheroes are to touch down to deal with the Doomsday aftermath in Smallville.
It’s that time of the week again already, and Ben and Gareth have applied their TV expertise to the latest instalment of Heroes, episode eight - Villains.
The good news is there’s no mention of the tortoise/turtle debacle… the bad news is Ben still has it in for Mohinder…
Don’t forget, if you want to watch our handsome duo in high quality (and hey, who wouldn’t?) just visit the vid at its youtube home, and click on the magic watch in high quality words below the screen.
The eighth series of Smallville starts next week, and it looks like the Justice League is starting to come together nicely – which is just as well really, as they’re badly needed to track down Clark after his run-in with Lex at the end of the last series.
Anyway, we got to thinking – if there was a face-off between the super-powered Smallville inhabitants and the Heroes crew, who would win? After much heated debate, we decided there was only one way to fight it out – top trumps!
Click on the images below for a closer look at the extraordinary fighting stats…
It’s that time of the week again! Peter and Sylar are up to their eyes in power-based politics with old Pa Petrelli, Borehinder is confusing us all with his good/evil routine, Parkman’s turtle (sorry Ben, TORTOISE!) suddenly seems incapable of showing his new owner the truth about Daphne’s shenanigans, and don’t even get me started on Claire-Bear!
Ben and Gareth have plenty to say about tonight’s episode, and it seems Gareth’s threats from last week were just idle threats… no sign of them giving up on the show just yet!
You can also watch the boys in high definition on youtube - just click the ‘watch in high quality’ button beneath the video window!
Missed Ben and Gareth’s earlier Heroes vodcasts? Not to worry, we’ve got them all safely rounded up here for your enjoyment….
A week has passed since our last Heroes vodcast, and Ben and Gareth are back with their musings on episode five, clearly named Heroes and Monsters due to the number of people bandying about the terms in tonight’s instalment.
Are they right about Ando? Do you know something they don’t about Pinehearst? And is Parkman’s dad Maury a distant relative of Prison Break’s Bellick? Tell us what you think!
Here’s a mightily airbrushed official new photo of Heroes’ Zachary Quinto as Spock on the cover of the US magazine Entertainment Weekly, promoting next year’s much-anticipated big-budget Star Trek movie.
Directed by Lost and Fringe-maker JJ Abrams, the film stars Chris Pine (we hadn’t heard of him either, so we looked him up and found out he’s been in CSI:Miami and Six Feet Under) alongside pointy-eared Quinto, who has hinted that the latest Star Trek franchise could be the first of many.
‘It is a multiple-picture deal,’ he says. And of Spock: ‘The interesting thing is that you meet this character before you ever knew him on the television series and the other movies, so [this film is] an exploration of how he got to that point.’ Will we find out if Spock has a first name? ‘You’re going to have to wait and see!’
At the moment, Star Trek is slated for a 9 May 2009 UK release. Here’s the teaser poster and trailer…
Episode four of series three of Heroes, the cheerily titled I Am Become Death, has just finished on BBC3, and, boy, am I confused! What I really want to know is:
Our TV Spies Ben and Gareth have plenty to say about it, and a few intriguing theories…
He may play Heroes‘ quirky time-stopping hero Hiro, but actor Masi Oka was in fact a child prodigy, with an incredibly high IQ score of 189! The Tokyo-born star is such a brainbox that, aged 12, he was featured on the front cover of this 1987 issue of Time magazine. Bearing in mind that, according to Mensa, the average IQ is 100, Masi’s score is pretty impressive!
Episode three of series three of Heroes has just finished on BBC3, full of lots of developments, shocking revelations and downright puzzling moments. Find out what our TV Spies Ben and Gareth have to say about it and tell us what you thought too.
On a technical note, last week’s vodcast was a tad hard to hear, but this week we’ve got some much better equipment, so no more cricks in the neck from keeping your ear pressed up against the computer - woo hoo!
Yes folks, tonight we are making history!
Our very own Ben and Gareth have been chomping at the bit to have a good old rant about the first two episodes of Heroes which aired tonight on BBC2 and BBC3 so here they both are, in full technicolour glory, making their debut in our first ever vodcast (complete with some Heroes action figures courtesy of the good folks at Forbidden Planet).
Ben seems decidedly grumpy about what has been going on in the aftermath of series two, while Gareth still appears to be a fervent Heroes fan. Will it last? Will Gareth win Ben back over to the side of our favourite Heroes, or will Ben drag Gareth into a more villain-esque opinion?
You’ve seen the episodes too by now, so the question is: which one of them do you agree with?
We’ll be back with more from our heroic duo next week… (hopefully with better sound quality…)
We’ve put up lots of trailers and clips already for series three of Heroes, but here’s the full-length version. No sign of the new villains in there yet, but there’s plenty of the original and the best, Sylar.
George Takei is masterful in his portrayal of Hiro’s father, Kaito Nakamura, but it’s a little known fact that he actually auditioned for several other roles in Heroes… look at this!
I think he would have nailed the Claire Bennett role if he’d just donned a cheerleader costume…
Season two of Heroes left us with a lot of questions, but one of the biggest was definitely ‘who shot Nathan?’
There he was, poised to spill the beans to the world about his special powers, and bang! He was silenced by a bullet, and left for dead. NBC have very helpfully put together a list of suspects to refresh your memory - and get you in the mood ready for Wednesday night’s season three opener…. Oh, we can’t wait!
