First look at the all-new 90210

90210 Cast

If the Greeks, One Tree Hills and Gossip Girls of this world have left you yearning for the golden age of the definitive US teentastic drama Beverly Hills, 90210, you’re not alone. The US channel The CW is bringing back the mother of all rich-teens-behaving-badly series, now cunningly named just 90210.

Focusing on the new-to-California Mills family, 90210 follows teens Annie and Dixon as they make their way through the classes and cliques of an affluent high school, making friends and foes along the way.

While the trendy young teens are played by faces relatively fresh to TV, the Mills family is headed by Rob “Melrose Place” Estes and US TV stalwart Lori Loughlin. You’ll also recognise Jessica Walter, who played catty drunk Lucille in Arrested Development, as the Mills’ catty drunk grandmother, and Nip/Tuck strumpet AnnaLynne McCord as local trouble-maker Naomi.

And there may also be a few 90210 stalwarts on set. Kelly (Jennie Garth) will be offering advice as the kids’ school counsellor, while Tori Spelling’s Donna is rumoured to be appearing, potentially as mom to siblings Max and Daphne. There’s no sign of Brenda popping up again, but seeing how popular Shannon Doherty made herself on the set of the original, we won’t be holding our breath.

The series is slated to air in the US this autumn, but here’s an early preview with the cast introducing their new characters…

[stop press:  we have just read that Tori Spelling will definitely be appearing]
