Our competition to win a deeeee-luxe DVD box-set edition of The Sopranos: The Ultimate Collection has now closed. Well done to everyone who entered, you all correctly answered that James Gandolfini played Tony Soprano in the cult mobster drama.

We asked non-mob member Ellie to draw a name out of our office hat, and the lucky winner of the box-set is Claire Garlick! Claire, we’ll be in touch with you to get your address today. Commiserations to everyone else - but hey, just be glad you haven’t ended up swimming with da fishes…

This weekend’s big US dramas

Stabler (Christopher Meloni, L) and Rickett (Matthew Modine) in Law & Order: SVU season 6 ep 17: Rage

Fri, 10pm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Five
A big-name guest star for the gritty crime drama series this week, as Matthew Modine appears as a face from Stabler’s past. Modine plays Gordon Rickett, a suspected child-rapist and killer who Stabler was unable to convict 14 years previously. Will the notoriously volatile Stabler be able to keep his hatred for the suspect in check as the two meet in the interrogation room once again?

Sun, 9pm, Burn Notice, FX
Fiona gets in on the act in this week’s helping of chisel-jawed ex-spy capers. She’s decided to try her hand at a spot of bounty-hunting, but when she tracks the bail-jumper down she comes to the conclusion that he’s innocent of his supposed crime - stealing a £2 million diamond brooch. Will Michael help Fiona to find the real thief - or is he content to take a back seat for once?

Sun, 9pm, Fringe, Sky1
As we near the halfway point of JJ Abrams’ latest mind-bending creation, there’s another head-scratcher for the team when a swarm of imaginary butterflies prompts a Massive Dynamic employee to leap out of a window to his death. Scott proves to be useful in the ensuing investigation - much to his ex-partner (and ex-lover) Olivia’s frustration. Meanwhile, Peter’s past comes back to haunt him when some old enemies find out that he’s back in Boston.

Sun, 10pm, John from Cincinnati, FX
More strange goings-on for the residents of Imperial Beach tonight in Deadwood creator David Milch’s drama. Dr Smith is convinced that something miraculous occurred in Shaun’s hospital room to bring him back. Meanwhile, Cass comforts Mitch (Bruce Greenwood), who is unaware of her connection to Linc (Luke Perry)…

Sun, 10pm, Desperate Housewives, E4
Wisteria Lane has never been a good place to try and keep anything quiet, spectacularly proved by this week’s visit. The Scavos are stunned to learn about wayward son Porter’s scandalous relationship with Anne; Mrs McCluskey’s splendid sister Roberta (guest star Lily Tomlin) uncovers some very interesting information about the mysterious Dave (Neal McDonough, whose credits include Band of Brothers and short-lived cop show Boomtown); and the truth about Katherine comes out. Surely there can’t be any secrets left in this street?

10pm, Cold Case, Sky 1
When a fan hands in a previously unpublished photo of a famous 1953 pin-up girl who was murdered, the case is reopened. However, things are not going to be easy for Scotty and the team as there are several suspects in the picture - the pin-up’s manager, the president of her fan club and her best friend. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

10pm, Life, ITV3
After Dani overhears a fellow AA member apparently confessing to a rape, her relentless pursuit of the man leads her into danger. That girl is going to get herself into trouble! This week’s Heroes vodcast, featuring TV Spies Ben and Gareth AND the world’s first ever turtle eclipse

Yes, TV Spy guys Ben and Gareth are back to wax lyrical on episode 10 of Heroes, the long-awaited Eclipse Part I. Burn Notice’s Jeffrey Donovan gets theatrical

Fans of Burn Notice were out in force at a theatre in Chicago this weekend for Jeffrey Donovan’s opening night in the sex farce Don’t Dress for Dinner.

Jeff (I’m a fan of the show so I can be a bit matey) stars as fired spy Michael Westen in Burn Notice and has won praise for his stage performance as Robert in Marc Camelotti’s play. One critic said he displayed ‘a deer-in-the-headlights charm that works nicely’ and said the production was a ’stimulus for the funny bone’ and ‘a Broadway quality show at half the price’.

As I live in London I’m unlikely to get to see it (even if I get a personal invite from his Burn Notice co-star Gabrielle Anwar), but if you happen to be passing the Royal George Theatre then the play runs until 11 January.

Alternatively, you can catch Jeff in the Clint Eastwood film Changeling, which opens in the UK on Wednesday, and sees him starring opposite Angelina Jolie as scowling police captain JJ Jones. A new Clint film is always an event and, as a taster, here’s a clip of the ever-modest Jeff talking about the movie.

Calm down, Damages fans - we’ve only gone and found more Season 2 trailers!

“Get ready,” advises Glenn Close’s terrifying Patty Hewes - and you’d better, because the new season of Damages is getting closer! Fans of the first season - who are easily identifiable by an absence of fingernails after all those cliffhangers - will be delighted to hear that Season Two looks to be just as enthralling.

Far removed from the fresh-faced law school graduate of episode one, the revenge-consumed, hardened Ellen now has Patty in her sights - but who else will be making a reappearance? For a mouthwatering taste of what’s to come check out these latest trailers - it looks like there are going to be more twists than a Slinky on a helter-skelter!
