Fri, 9pm, Criminal Minds, Living
After last week’s shocker of an episode, with Garcia’s so-called dream date shooting her (surely her dinner conversation can’t have been that bad!) she’s fighting for her life with the team trying to track down the would-be killer.
Sat, 9.15pm, CSI: NY, Five SERIES FINALE A bank robbery goes awry and a hostage situation ensues, with the protagonist claiming he isn’t responsible for the death of the bank manager and he wants a CSI to come in and prove his innocence. Mac offers his services, but it’s not straightforward and it slowly becomes a battle of wits over forensics.
Sun, 9pm, Lost, Sky One SERIES FINALE Yes, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, two hours of island-shifting, Ben bashing and no doubt several explosions. The only problem is the thought that Sunday nights are going to feel horribly empty after this. Enjoy.
If, like us, you’re quaking with anticipation for the next episode of Battlestar Galactica, The Hub, brace yourself for some bad news. Owing (possibly) to showrunner Ron Moore CGI-ing a few more Cylon raiders into the already amazing special effects or Number Six having her peroxide blonde bob re-bleached, the episode’s been knocked on a week and now won’t be broadcast until Tuesday 10 June.
So that’s another seven days we’ll have to wait to discover the fates of the missing Roslin and Baltar, and the inevitable unboxing of Lucy Lawless’s scary Cylon Number Three. The only upside is that it will be a week’s less wait until the second half of the final series kicks off next year.
Clearly we’re far too busy to be looking at stuff like this (honest, boss), but should you find yourself with a few spare minutes you may want to try out these two Lost quizzes…
The seventh series of 24 won’t be on until next January (though, thankfully, there will be a two-hour TV movie before then), but judging by this trailer, recently aired in America, it looks like it’s going to be worth the wait…
Via the ever-excellent docarzt.com, we draw your attention to this quartet of clips from the two-part finale, showing on Sky One on Sunday night. Two further clips can be found here…
Having taken the plainly absurd decision to drop the second episode of Pushing Daisies in order that the series would finish in time for them to show the Euro 2008 tie between Portugal and Turkey, the broadcaster has today announced that it will be showing the missing episode from 10pm next Saturday on ITV.com.
The site says that the episode, called Dummy, will not be shown on television and that the website will be the only place where British fans will be able to see it.
Frankly, we think this is pitiful, even by ITV’s standards, and merely adds insult to injury. Surely, after all, the broadcaster could have found room amid the endless repeats of Animals Do The Funniest Things and Midsomer Murders to show it on ITV2 or ITV3 instead?
9pm, Reaper, E4
Sam is given an extra tough mission when Hell springs a leak and he has to deal with a steady flow of escapees. Meanwhile Andi does a spot of detective work, and comes to a shocking conclusion about the real reason for Satan’s interest in Sam, building up to next week’s big series finale…
10pm, The Big Bang Theory, E4
Penny discovers Leonard has never had a birthday party before so she decides to arrange a surprise celebration with the help of the rest of the geeks. As usual, what should be relatively straightforward becomes unbelievably complicated, with plenty of sharp banter between Penny and Sheldon to keep you amused along the way.
10.40, Six Degrees, ITV1 NEW SERIES Sunday’s Lost series 4 finale may be looming large, but you can console yourselves with the fact ITV1 have kindly produced this new JJ Abrams drama to get addicted to (and of course his rollercoaster thriller Fringe is bound to reach our shores soon). Six Degrees is based on the concept that anyone on Earth can be connected to anyone else through a chain of six people, and uses a group of New Yorkers to explore the idea. It got axed in the States but hopefully ITV1 will let it run its course.
As the episode title suggests, we finally find out what happened to the heroes after the events at Kirby Plaza: Nathan begins a seemingly impossible recovery from the explosion; Maya’s deadly powers surface at her brother’s wedding; DL comes to the rescue when a new personality takes over Niki; and Peter is imprisoned by the Company and meets Adam Monroe.
9pm & 10pm, Smallville, E4 NEW SERIES Clark and co return for season seven of the cult drama, and the superhero seems to be developing a stronger understanding of his greater purpose - oh, and his cousin Kara shows up, revealing she has definitely inherited the super gene too.
9pm, Battlestar Galactica, Sky One
All hell breaks loose on the colonial fleet when President Roslin is abducted by the Cylon Hybrid and a bitter power struggle ensues, threatening to tear the fleet apart.
10pm, Nip/Tuck, FX
Christian can’t face telling Wilbur about Gina’s death, but he has to deal with the fallout from the boy’s psychological state when he gets into trouble at school. Meanwhile Colleen tells another agency to get stuffed when they try to poach Sean. It’s not a pretty sight.
If the Greeks, One Tree Hills and Gossip Girls of this world have left you yearning for the golden age of the definitive US teentastic drama Beverly Hills, 90210, you’re not alone. The US channel The CW is bringing back the mother of all rich-teens-behaving-badly series, now cunningly named just 90210.
Focusing on the new-to-California Mills family, 90210 follows teens Annie and Dixon as they make their way through the classes and cliques of an affluent high school, making friends and foes along the way.
While the trendy young teens are played by faces relatively fresh to TV, the Mills family is headed by Rob “Melrose Place” Estes and US TV stalwart Lori Loughlin. You’ll also recognise Jessica Walter, who played catty drunk Lucille in Arrested Development, as the Mills’ catty drunk grandmother, and Nip/Tuck strumpet AnnaLynne McCord as local trouble-maker Naomi.
And there may also be a few 90210 stalwarts on set. Kelly (Jennie Garth) will be offering advice as the kids’ school counsellor, while Tori Spelling’s Donna is rumoured to be appearing, potentially as mom to siblings Max and Daphne. There’s no sign of Brenda popping up again, but seeing how popular Shannon Doherty made herself on the set of the original, we won’t be holding our breath.
The series is slated to air in the US this autumn, but here’s an early preview with the cast introducing their new characters…
As well as Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly talking about the spectacular Lost double-bill finale, we’ve got our exclusive round-up of all the latest episodes of your favourite US shows in TV Spy, and a sneak peek at Lipstick Jungle…
