EastEnders (BBC1, 8.00pm)
Archie’s burning ambition to torch the Vic is thwarted by Peggy’s untimely appearance, and is forced to try to play the hero instead of villian by blaming some pesky kids for the fire. Old dear Peggy seems convinced, but her suspicions are aroused when she finds Billy’s wallet (no doubt empty) at the scene. It’ll be a shame to see the old girl leave.
Comedy Showcase: Campus (Channel 4, 10.00pm)
This series of one-off comedy specials, which brought us Plus One and Free Agents, returns with this encouraging offering from the creators of Green Wing and Smack the Pony. It’s set in a fictitious University - a good source of humour from Kingsley Amis’ Lucky Jim, to The History Man by Malcolm Bradbury, through to the BBC’s excellent A Very Peculiar Practice - and follows the often bizarre, and expletive-laden daily routines of the staff and pupils there. There’s a fine central turn from Andy Nyman in a role reminiscent of his seedy producer part in Dead Set.
