Hollyoaks Later (E4, 9.00pm)
Can this Later spin-off possibly get any better (or worse, depending on your viewpoint) than Sarah’s bloody exit last night? Maybe, just maybe. A gun-wielding Kev threatens Hannah and Jamie when the pair try to save Rhys, but tonight’s real showshopper involves arch manipulator Cindy heading down the aisle with Tony. Can anything get in this tart-with-a-heart’s way? Step forward useless dirty-dog Darren.

Benidorm (ITV1, 9.00pm)
After the thrills and spills of the one-off special shown earlier this year, than gang returns to Solana Apartments courtesy of a goodwill free stay after being held hostage on their last visit. Having learnt valuable lessons from Eighties sitcom Duty Free, the writers have decided that new faces are needed alongside old favourites; enter Sheridan Smith (owner of the best knowing-wink-and-raised-eyebrow combo the business) to liven things up as Martin’s new, and much younger, squeeze.

True Blood (FX, 10.00pm)
The end of the series it may be but there’s more than enough set in motion tonight to have us drooling for the forthcoming second season. The serial killer’s identity is revealed (but we already know that) when Sookie is attacked once again, and Bill, hearing her southern-drawl screams, is forced to go out in the sunlight to rescue her. Elsewhere, jailbird Jason is approached by anti-vampire church the Fellowship of the Sun, while the seriously mixed-up Tara remains unsure as to whether she can trust Maryann (of course she can’t). All in all, a great first series.
