The Tudors (BBC2, 9.00pm)
Obviously the picture above gives away a significant plot detail of tonight’s two episodes but, as the show’s based on historical fact (sort of), we all know what happens anyway. As Christmas approaches, Henry is reunited with daughters Mary and Elizabeth but its far from a happy family. The King finally gets the male heir he, and his advisors, have always wanted but his joy is soon cut short by tragedy. Nevermind, Henry, there’s three more wives still to come.

True Blood (FX, 10.00pm)
It’s unusual in TV land to allow your will-they-won’t-they romantic leads to get it on so soon in a series, but this is no usual series. Shortly after they’ve consummated their union, Sookie and Bill find themselves the talk of the town. There’s trouble at Merlotte’s when a pack of vampires arrive, and the fantastically stupid Jason’s search for more V juice takes him to Fangtasia nightspot. Check out the preview clip above.

EastEnders (BBC1, 8.00pm)
It’s been a dramatic week for poor old Minty; best mate Garry sailed away into the sunset (well, to Strictly Come Dancing anyway) and he now has to adjust to the cohabiting lifestyle with Manda. However, the news that Manda’s son is returning to the UK proves too much for Minty to handle.
