EastEnders: Stacey to leave!

eestaceyleaves.jpg

Stacey is leaving EastEnders!

Actress Lacey Turner has announced that she’s quitting the show after nearly six years.

‘I’ll miss Stacey and everyone in Albert Square very much but the time has come to try something different,’ she says.

EastEnders boss Bryan Kirkwood says that the door has been left open but that  ‘viewers can look forward to a typically dramatic Slater family exit’.

Actress Gillian Wright, who plays Stacey mum Jean, will also be leaving.

During her time in Walford Stacey’s had more drama than any other character. She’s had soap’s most on/off/on/off romance with Bradley Branning (which is now definitely off since he died on their second wedding night earlier this year). She had a steamy affair with Bradley’s father Max back in 2007. In 2009 she was diagnosed as bi-polar and on Christmas day the same year killed Archie Mitchell! And now she’s pregnant with Ryan’s baby (is it really his?) and eveyone thinks it’s Bradley’s, apart from Max!

How are they going to write her out of the show? By sending her to prison for bumping off Archie? Giving her a happy ending with her soon to be born baby (surely if it’s a boy got to be called Bradley Jnr)?

What do you think about Stacey leaving EastEnders and how do you think she should leave?

Hollyoaks: Get ready for big secrets!

hollyoakscalvinshot.jpg

Are you excited about finding out who shot Calvin in Hollyoaks? The new boss on the show Paul Marquess certainly is… and he’s just seen the episodes where the killer is revealed and he promises it’s ‘bold and daring stuff – full of mystery and intrigue.’

But even when we do find out who the killer is it sounds like the mysteries are going to keep on coming.

‘The aftermath of the murder is going to be every bit as dramatic,’ promises Paul. ‘There’s a great big secret at the heart of Hollyoaks – how long before it starts to leak out? Calvin’s murder is the catalyst for the unravelling of a whole knot of secrets and lies.’

Big secret? Lies?  Now that’s what we like to hear.

Who do you think fits the killer clues???

EastEnders - Zoe Slater NOT returning!

eezoeslater1.jpg

There have been lots of whispers that Zoe Slater was set to return to Walford, joining Kat and Alfie who will be arriving later this year.

But EastEnders have claimed Michelle Ryan won’t be taking up her role as the youngest Slater sister anytime soon.

‘We have not approached Michelle Ryan about returning to EastEnders, there is no truth in this story,’ says a source. ‘Speculation is rife about returning characters at the moment and we never say never but there are no plans for her to return to the show.’

Fair enough, we can’t see there’s anything in Walford for Zoe anyway, and she’s best off steering clear of the Vic after that unpleasant business with Dirty Den and Pauline Fowler’s door stop in 2005.

But are you disappointed? Did you want the whole Slater clan back? Or do you think it’s time that EastEnders introduce an entirely new family instead of bringing back returning characters?

Let us know what you think.

EastEnders: New love for Max?

eemaxbranning.jpg

Former Footballers’ Wives star Zoe Lucker is set to join EastEnders later this year.

Zoe will play Vanessa, who according to the show is ‘a dynamic and assured business woman who catches the eye of Max Branning.’

EastEnders new Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood says: ‘Zoe Lucker is absolutely perfect for the role of Vanessa. The character is a strong, confident force of nature who will play Max at his own game. I can’t wait to see Zoe come face to face with Jake Wood on screen.’

Zoe will apprently appear for a short stint in the summer, but viewers will be left guessing as to what Vanessa’s agenda really is.

Agenda? Max is broke and cars hardly seem to be flying out of that car lot, so surely it can’t be money, can it?

How do feel about Zoe joining the show and what do you reckon Vanessa’s agenda is? Let us know.

Emmerdale: Nathan is the Dales’ new villain

emmerdalenatashanathan.jpg

Is Nathan turning out to be one of Emmerdale’s most chilling villains?

Last night (2 March) viewers saw Mark Wylde’s son attack Faye before she was rescued by Ryan.

And it’s only going to get worse this week when Natasha makes the mistake of telling her unhinged, eldest son a version of the events (in other words, half-truths) that led up to Mark’s death and secret burial in the woods at Home Farm.

What will Nathan do? Keep his mother’s secret? Well, yes but at a price… he’s going to fleece Natasha of the Home Farm fortune in order to buy his silence.

Emmerdale had been lacking a decent villain for some time (Cain’s gone a bit soft since Charity’s return last year). But Nathan looks set to change that now he knows Natasha’s a killer. Will the cash be enough to keep him quiet? We’re guessing not.

What do you think of Nathan? Does he have the potential to one of soap’s greatest baddies or is he just a spoilt little rich kid? Let us know what you think.

EastEnders: Max and Stacey two-hander!

eestaceymax.jpg

EastEnders actor Jake Wood who plays Max Branning has revealed there will be a special EastEnders episode featuring just Max and Stacey that’s set to air very soon.

Speaking on This Morning today, Jake promised ‘big things’ between Max and Bradley’s widow and revealed that he has signed to stay with the show for another 18 months.

In the live episode last week Stacey told Max she killed Archie Mitchell, although police believe Bradley, who died falling from The Queen Vic roof, was responsible for Archie’s death.

‘There is a two-hander episode between Max and Stacey coming up which is going to be filmed very shortly and will go out very quickly,’ Jake said. ‘That’s an exclusive. I’m very excited because I love working with Lacey, she’s an incredible actress.’

So what will Max do now he’s the only Walford resident who know’s Stacey big secret? Will he blame Stacey for Bradley’s death? Will he tell the police the truth? Could the pair rekindle their affair that tore the Brannings apart?

Lots of possibilities. Let us know which you think is best.

EastEnders: Alternative Archie killer endings!

eearchiealternateendings.jpg

So we all know Stacey killed Archie right? But what about all those alternative endings that EastEnders exec producer Diederick Santer said had been rehearsed?

Well EastEnders have released snippets of the scripts that would have seen nine other suspects confessing to murdering Archie Mitchell on Christmas Day.

Apart from Stacey the other nine names in the frame were Janine, Jack, Peggy, Ronnie, Max, Ian, Phil, Ryan and Billy!

If you watched the ‘Aftermath’ on BBC Three after the live episode last week you might have caught recordings of what would have happened if Max or Ryan had been revealed as the killers. But you can read all the alternative endings here including Ian confessing to Dot, Peggy confessing to Ronnie, Janine confessing to Ryan and Billy, in his underpants (presumably after the sip or strip game?!) confessing to Phil.

We still reckon the right character was chosen in the end. What about you?

EastEnders: Three clues that identified Stacey as killer!

eestaceyclues.jpg

EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said there were three clues that would identify Stacey as Archie Mitchell’s killer. But did you guess them?

They were revealed on yesterday’s episode of This Morning.

Before the live episode Diederick had said: ‘There were three big clues. One in the Christmas day episode, one more recently than Christmas and there’s another one that if I was to tell you where it was, would perhaps give it away too easily.’

So the Christmas Day episode clue was apparently a (brief) disappearance by Stacey and her strange reaction when Roxy gave her baby Amy to hold before Roxy went to The Vic to discover Ronnie holding Archie’s body (but that happened on the Boxing Day episode although technically still Christmas Day in Walford).

The clue after Christmas was Stacey spitting on Archie’s grave below.

eefuneralstacey.jpg

And the final clue which could have given away the reveal too easily was that Stacey appeared first on the EastEnders Christmas trailer below.

Did you get all that? Or were you thrown by Phil’s missing cufflink and his bloody shirt? Or Sam Mitchell’s missing finger nail or Peggy’s divorce papers? Or the mysterious engagement ring that was planted in Janine’s teapot (why does Janine even have a teapot?).

Or was Ronnie’s paint attack on Archie’s poster enough to put her in the frame? Or was it just the fact that everyone on Christmas Day had a habit of disappearing and reappearing at The Vic at some point?

Don’t worry, Poirot couldn’t have solved it either… but it was still great, right? Let us know what you think.

Coronation Street: Hilda Ogden back for 50th?

cshildarev2.jpg

Now that EastEnders 25th annivesary live episode has aired it’s time to remember that there are other soaps out there.

In particular Corrie is set to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary this December.

What are they planning? The hot rumour is they’ll have not one, but two live episodes and that veterans including Hilda Ogden will be returning.

Not quite sure Hilda, not seen since 1987 when she left to be a housekeeper in the country, sounds quite as thrilling as Bradley’s death plunge but you never know…

Helen Worth (Gail) recently said that the aftermath of Gail’s storyline, which is set to see her in the frame for Joe’s murder, would be a big part of the show’s 50th anniversary.

Could it be another ‘Free Deirdre‘ campaign but this time with Gail imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit?

What do you think? It was nerve wracking enough watching one live episode let alone two but are you looking forward to Corrie’s 50th and if so, what storylines and which characters should they focus on to celebrate it?

Should Becky and Steve take centre stage? Should Bet Lynch make a return? Let us know what you think.
